About Albany Natural Trailriders

Albany Natural Trailriders (ANTs) is a group of horse riders from Albany and surrounding areas on the southcoast of Western Australia. ANTs is an incorporated club and affiliated with the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association (ATHRA). We run events in accordance with their Code of Conduct.

ANTs will generally meet twice a month, once for a training day where we learn, share and practice natural horsemanship methods and once for a trail ride through our beautiful countryside.

ANTs warmly welcomes new riders. However, in the safety of our club, we ask that you attend at least one of our training days before registering for a trail ride. A certain level of confidence is needed for trail riding, so our members volunteer their time to offer training outings for young, green, or inexperienced horse/rider combinations to help build that confidence. This is so we can meet you and your horse to assess your readiness to safely participate in a group trail ride. Please contact us for further information.

We ride in a wide variety of places, including open rangeland, tall timbered tracks, beaches, and Heritage Rail Trails. We have had events in Walpole, as far west as Jerramungup and as far north as Kendenup, and everywhere in between. Wherever there is a horse trail, we like to go there!

Our events vary from year to year, depending on popularity and availability of organisers. As part of financial membership, individuals can also ride at the Albany Equestrian Centre throughout the year.

A riding Calendar is set at the start of the year, which includes a monthly trail ride and a training event, and usually one camping weekend.
