  • We meet for a trail ride once a month (except for December) and for a training day almost every month. We ride on people’s private properties (with their permission); along dedicated trails; at the Albany Equestrian Centre; on Council alloted horse beaches; and other places such as Crown Land.

They are officially authorised events as we keep to the strict guidelines of the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association (ATHRA).

  • Our club offers training events where we might go to someone's place, the Albany Equestrian Centre or the beach. This is a great opportunity to chat and learn from each other, and to work through training issues in a safe environment.

Sometimes people will bring their young or inexperienced horses along, as there is no pressure on either the rider or the horse.

We also require that new members attend at least one of our training days before registering for a trail ride. This is so we can meet you and your horse to assess your readiness to safely participate in a group trail ride.

The day is led by a volunteer Trail Boss and usually involves giving your horse experiences with different obstacles that are likely to be met on a typical trail ride, without the pressure of holding other people up on a ride. We aren’t trainers...just passionate horse people committed to safety and enjoyment.

  • No. Under the ATHRA (Australian Trail Horse Riders of Australia) Code of Conduct, this is not permitted.

  • ‘Day Membership’ is for riders who are not members of our club. There is a cost involved which covers day insurance. You can ride under this category twice a year. After that you must join as a full financial member, where most of our events are free.

Follow these instructions to add a ‘Day Membership’.

  • We follow the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association (ATHRA) Code of Conduct.

ATHRA's Code of Conduct was developed through a consultative process that included members of the Insurance Industry, ATHRA affiliated clubs and individual members.

Adherence to the Code aims to reduce the inherent risks associated with horse riding, and by joining the ATHRA, all members agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

The Code is reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and meets the evolving needs of the Association. Every ATHRA member is encouraged to become familiar with its content.

  • A number of our members are qualified Trail Bosses which gives them the authority to manage the riders and horses on the day that they are appointed in that role.

Our Trailbosses are not instructors, however they will share their knowledge and skills with you if you wish. It is important that if you choose to ride with us, it is a requirement that you follow the Trailboss’ instructions during the ride.

Everyone who partakes in our events needs to be responsible for their own safety and those around them. By adhering to the ATHRA Code of Conduct we can achieve that goal, as well as enjoying our time together
