Stidwell Bridle Trail - Working Group Update - 23 March 2022

The Working Group met again on Wednesday 23rd March at the City of Albany offices. Tredwell Consulting presented the draft report and feedback received from the group members after a review of the draft report was discussed.

The discussion centred around subjects including:

  • Comprehensive identification of hazards on the SBT

  • Legislation pertaining to the SBT use, compliance and enforcement

  • Actions to be taken to mitigate safety and environmental risk on the SBT

Of note was the discussion around the creation of a formal “Friends of the Stidwell Bridle Trail’ group, to continue a working relationship with the City of Albany and provide input into the implementation of actions to protect the SBT into the future. If you or members of your club would like to play a role in this, I would suggest joining the unofficial Facebook page for more updates: Friends of the Stidwell Bridle Trail Albany | Facebook

The next meeting will be held in April, where the final report including feedback will be tabled and this will be discussed in more detail.

It should be acknowledged that the Working Group, including the City of Albany has allocated considerable resources and time to achieve this milestone. The participation and support from the equestrian community will go a long way to securing a bridle trail worthy of all this effort. Please don’t be shy, your involvement from this point on will be more than welcome!

Regards,
Charlotte McIntyre
