Stidwell Bridle Trail - Working Group Update - March 2022
The Working Group met at the City of Albany last Wednesday. Tredwell Consulting tabled the draft report which was discussed in detail. The report is a comprehensive study of the issues pertaining to the management and use of the Stidwell Bridle trail and surrounds, with a focus on equestrian safety and the environment.
The draft report details the issues identified through the study and makes a number of recommendations to address those issues. Among them of note are:
Effective management of unauthorised vehicular access on land which contains or provides access to the Stidwell Bridle Trail.
Trail maintenance
Protecting environmental assets, including fire mitigation
Potential realignment of the SBT away from high priority water catchment sites
Re establishment of a community group: “Friends of Stidwell Bridle Trail” to work collaboratively with City of Albany for ongoing Trail management
The working group will review the draft report and provide comment before the next Working Group meeting, which is 23rd March.
Thankyou to those equestrians and clubs who provided feedback as part of the consultation stage of this study, it was very valuable.
Regards,
Charlotte McIntyre
